Hi. I’m Marie, Chris’ wife.
I wanted to introduce Chris Todd Photography to you in a little different way.
My husband started in the banking industry as a teenager in 1977 and now works for one of the top ten banks in America. However, photography is his real passion. Well, besides me, that is. We’ve been happily married since 1985.
My very first Christmas gift to him was a photography course at the University of Alabama, Birmingham. He borrowed my Dad’s Canon AE-1 Program to get started. He shot his first wedding in 1987 and the rest is history. We have never advertised much – bookings came to us by referral. We liked it that way and preferred not to take too many weekend jobs while raising our two wonderful children (now 21 and 18). Now they are both moving away and attending college – starting their own lives. So this ‘empty nest’ stage of life is upon us and now we can spend more time in the business.
Chris would never brag on himself (or criticize another’s work), but I can brag on him a little. He has taken a number of college photography classes over the years, but his education has largely come from countless hours researching and experimenting with the latest photographic techniques, learning to hone his craft. And, of course, he now has twenty years of work experience. The greatest satisfaction for him is to see the reaction of his clients when "they absolutely love their photos!”. Clients always comment on what a pleasure it is to work with Chris. He has a professional manner, but also has a very easy going and fun personality (which can really help keep things calm on a stressful day).
I handle the ‘business side’ and he handles the ‘creative side’. I am a Project Manager by occupation so I keep things running smoothly and organized at the wedding. Chris has a real gift of capturing the emotions of the day and delivers a unique mix of the traditional and photojournalistic styles. Everyone especially loves his black and white work. We also provide sessions for family, ‘senior casual’, and other special events.
